Permission groups: what each role can see and change
Everyone in enrola has one of four roles. Each role can do everything the role before it can, and more. Settings → Permission groups shows who has each role.
See who has each role
- Go to Settings → Permission groups. Admins and Team Owners can open it.
- enrola lists Team Owners, Admins, Users and Read Only Users, with the number of members in each. Disabled accounts show "(disabled)".
- To change someone's role, select their name or Edit. You go to their user page. See Add users and choose their role.

The roles themselves are fixed. You can't create a new role or change what a role can do.
What each role can do
Read Only
- Open lists, search and filter them, and open records.
- Records open for viewing only: fields can't be changed, and list buttons say View instead of Edit.
- Can't add or delete records, change statuses, tick records for With selected…, choose columns, or use Export to CSV.
- Don't see the Activities list or Settings.
User
Everything a Read Only user can do, plus the day-to-day work:
- add and edit Opportunities, Applications, Learners, Employers and Contacts
- move Applications through statuses, add notes, book interviews and request more information
- post Opportunities to job boards with Posting Control
- act on several records at once, choose list columns and export to CSV
- record Activities
Users don't see Settings.
Admin
Everything a User can do, plus most of Settings:
- organisation details, branding, Opportunity types, workflows, application forms, applicant profiles, notifications, form fields, labels, sectors, categories, search filters and the Website iFrame
- add users and change users whose role is Admin or lower, and give roles up to Admin
Team Owner
Everything an Admin can do, plus:
- Settings → Integrations, for job boards and connected services
- Settings → Billing, when billing in enrola is switched on for your organisation
- the Auth tab on user pages, for enrola's API
- change other Team Owners, and make people Team Owners
- add an existing user to another of your organisations, from Organisation details
- the Add button for new panels in Settings → Form fields
- the Edit and Delete buttons on Settings → Opportunity types
- choose which job boards Posting Control offers on Opportunities
When an applicant replies to the email enrola sends them after they apply, the reply goes to your Team Owners.
Super Admin
Super Admin is the enrola team's own role. It isn't offered to customers. The enrola team uses it to set up organisations, run imports and look after shared settings such as Learning Records Service (LRS) lookups.
Good to know
- A person's role is the same in every organisation their account belongs to.
- Some things are personal and don't depend on role, such as your panel layout on records and dark mode.
