Why was I signed out? One device at a time
Each enrola account can be signed in on one device at a time. When you sign in somewhere new, enrola signs out every other place where your account was signed in. This protects your organisation's applicant data if someone else learns your password.
What you see
On the device that was signed out, the next page you open shows the sign-in page with this message:
"This session was signed out because your account was used to sign in on another device."

Sign in again to carry on. That signs out the other device instead.
What counts as a device
enrola counts each browser you sign in with. So these all count as separate devices:
- your work laptop and your phone
- two different browsers on the same computer
- a private or incognito window
If you keep being signed out, check whether you are signed in somewhere else, such as a second browser or a shared computer.
Other times you see the same message
enrola shows the same message whenever your sessions are ended for you, not only when you sign in elsewhere. You also see it after:
- you change your own password (enrola signs you out everywhere, including the browser you used)
- an Admin selects Reset password for your account
- an Admin switches off Enabled on your user page
- you, or an Admin, select Sign out all devices
Sign out of every device yourself
If you think you left enrola signed in somewhere, such as on a shared computer:
- Select your first name at the top right, then Edit user.
- Select Sign out all devices.
- Select Yes to confirm.
enrola signs you out everywhere, including this browser, and shows the sign-in page.
Admins can do the same for someone else from Settings → Users: open the person's page and select Sign out all devices. enrola shows "All devices have been signed out."
Good to know
- Signing in elsewhere also stops "Keep me signed in on this device" working on the other devices. See Sign in to enrola.
- Connections that use enrola's API are not affected. They don't count as a device and aren't signed out when you sign in.
