Ask an applicant for more information
Request more info sends an applicant a link to a short form with only the fields you pick, such as their National Insurance number or qualifications. Their answers wait for you to check before they go into the Application. You need the User role or above.
Before you start
The Request more info button shows at the top of the Application when:
- the Application has a Supervisor, and
- you have no earlier request for it that is still waiting to be merged.
Send the request
- Open the Application and select Request more info. You can also choose a status of the More info requested type, which opens the same page.
- The Request more info - choose fields page lists the Application's fields by panel, with the current value of each in brackets.
- Tick each field you want the applicant to fill in.
- To change how a field appears, select Edit field beside it. You can then:
- switch on Required field?, so the applicant must answer it, and
- type a Custom label for user, to replace the field's usual label on the applicant's form.
- Select Send email to user.
- In "Send Request more info email", check the subject and message. The message already includes the link, as the merge tag
[@request_info_link@]. Keep that tag in. - Select Save.
enrola sends the email and confirms that more info was requested. Application Logs records "Requested more info".
The text message
If the Application has a mobile number, enrola also sends the applicant a text message. It greets them by first name, says you need some more information to progress their application, and gives a short link to the same form. The sender shows as your organisation's name, shortened to 11 characters. If the text can't be sent, the email still goes.
What the applicant sees
The link opens a page headed "Please provide more info about you", with your logo and colour and only the fields you chose. They fill it in and select Save, then see "Thanks for submitting your information."

When the applicant replies
- You get an email, "More information submitted", with a link to review it.
- The applicant gets "Your application: information received".
- The top of the Application changes from "Requested info not submitted yet" to "Requested info not merged yet", with a Merge requested info button.
Review and merge the answers
The applicant's answers don't change the Application until you merge them.
- Select Merge requested info, or the link in your email.
- The page shows User submitted data beside Current application data, field by field.
- Select Merge beside each answer you want to use. To undo one, select Reset.
- Select Save merged application.
enrola confirms "Application merged" and logs "Requested info was merged". You can now send another request if you need to.
Good to know
- Only the person who sent a request sees its reminders and can merge it. A colleague who opens the Application can still send their own request.
- Opening the link again after replying shows the thank-you message, so the applicant can't change their answers. Send a new request if something needs correcting.
- Choosing a More info requested status doesn't send anything by itself. The email goes only when you finish the steps above.
- The same feature exists for employers on an Opportunity. See Ask an employer for vacancy details with Request more info.
