Filter a list by location and distance

The Location filter finds records near a postcode or a place, for example applicants within 10 miles of LS11 5QX, or Employers in and around Leeds. Everyone can use it.

It is on these lists:

Filter by location

1. On the list, select Filters.
2. Under Add a filter, select Location.
3. In Location, type a postcode, such as LS11 5QX, or a place name, such as Leeds.
4. Choose a Distance, from Exact location (0 miles) up to + 50 miles.
5. Select Apply filters.

The list shows the records within that distance. To find records outside it instead, set Match to Is not.

How distance works

• enrola places each record at the centre of its postcode, not at the exact building.
• For a postcode, the distance is measured from the centre of that postcode. Exact location (0 miles) finds records with the same postcode.
• For a town or city, the distance is added to the area of the place. + 5 miles around Leeds finds records in Leeds and up to about 5 miles outside it.
• Exact location (0 miles) with a place name finds nothing. Choose a distance when you filter by a place.

Look in more than one place

Select Add another in the Location filter to add a second place. The list then shows records near either place. For example, applicants within 10 miles of Leeds or within 10 miles of Bradford.

Draw an area on the Applications map

On the Applications list you can also draw a circle or rectangle on the map. The area becomes a Map area filter. See See Applications on a map and filter by area.
