Build application forms: questions, pages and layout

Each Opportunity type has its own application form. Every Opportunity of that type uses it, on your job board, your website and the adverts you post to job boards. Admins and Team Owners build forms in Settings → Application forms.

Important. Changes to a form apply straight away to every Opportunity of that type, including ones that are already advertised.

Open a form

  1. Go to Settings → Application forms.
  2. Select Edit beside the Opportunity type.

Settings → Application forms, listing Apprenticeship, Quick Register and Full cost course with Edit beside each, and the Default application PDF fields below.

The form page has two parts:

  • At the top, every question you can ask, grouped by the panel it belongs to on the Application, such as Personal information or Contact information.
  • Below, the form itself, titled with the type's name, such as Apprenticeship Application Form, in the order applicants see it.

Choose the questions

  1. At the top of the page, tick each question you want on the form. Untick the ones you don't.
  2. Select Apply changes.

The ticked questions appear in the form below.

Some questions are always on the form and can't be unticked, because enrola needs them:

  • most types: First Name, Last Name, Birth Date, Gender, Email, Mobile and Address
  • Quick Register types: First Name, Last Name, Email and Mobile

To ask a question that isn't in the list, add your own field to an Applications panel first. See Add your own fields and panels. It then appears in the list here under its panel.

Make a question required

In the form below, tick Mandatory beside the question. Applicants can't send the form until they answer it. The change saves straight away.

For long answers, such as Personal Statement, you can also tick Minimum character limit and type the number of characters applicants must write.

Add headings, text and page breaks

  1. Select Add Application Form field.
  2. Choose a Form Type:
    • Title or Sub-title: a heading, such as "About you".
    • Text: a paragraph of information for applicants.
    • Line break: extra space between questions.
    • Page break: starts a new page of the form.
    • Disclaimer: a statement that applicants must tick to agree to before they can apply.
  3. Enter the Field Title, if the type has one.
  4. Select Save.

New items go to the end of the form. Move them into place (see below). To change or remove an item you added, use its Edit or Delete button.

Forms with pages

When a form has page breaks, applicants see one page at a time, with a step counter such as "Step 2 of 3" and Back and Next buttons. enrola checks each page's answers before moving on. A page break has nothing to fill in: put a Title after it if you want the page to have a heading.

For what applicants see, see How applicants apply.

Put the questions in order

In the form below, move each row with its up and down arrows, or drag it by the handle on its left. enrola saves the order straight away.

The Apprenticeship Application Form: headings, questions with Mandatory tick boxes, page breaks shown as striped rows, and up and down arrows on every row.
