Add your own fields and panels
If enrola doesn't have a field for something you need to record, you can add your own. Your fields sit in the panels on records, alongside enrola's built-in fields. Admins and Team Owners manage them in Settings → Form fields. Your fields and panels are shared by everyone in your organisation.

Add a field
- Go to Settings → Form fields.
- Choose the tab for the kind of record: Opportunities, Applications, Employers or Contacts.
- Select the panel the field should go in, such as Personal information. The Edit form layout page opens.
- Select Add new form field.
- Enter the Field Title. This is the label people see.
- Choose the Form Type (see the table below).
- For Dropdown, Multi-select and Radio, add the options under Choices. Select Add choice for each one, and drag them into order.
- Set Mandatory to Yes if the field must be filled in.
- Select Save.
The field appears in the panel on every record of that kind, for everyone. To move it, see Arrange fields on a record.

| Form Type | What people enter |
|---|---|
| Text | A short line of text. |
| Textarea | Several lines of text. |
| Rich text | Formatted text, with the text editor. |
| Dropdown | One choice from a list. |
| Multi-select | Several choices from a list. |
| Radio | One choice, shown as buttons. |
| Checkbox | A single tick box. |
| Date | A date. |
| File | An uploaded file, such as a document. |
If a record has a Mandatory field that is empty, enrola warns staff when they leave the record.
Use your fields elsewhere
- On the application form: an Applications field can be added to an application form. See Build application forms.
- In search: most field types can become a filter on their list. See Filter by your own custom fields.
- In emails: each field has a merge tag, listed in the email template's Legend. See Merge tags you can use in emails.
- In exports and imports: your fields are columns in CSV exports, with the field's title as the heading. See Export a list to CSV and choose its columns.
Change or delete a field
On the panel's Edit form layout page, your own fields have Edit and Delete buttons. enrola's built-in fields don't.
Important. Renaming a field changes its merge tag, because the tag is made from the field's title. Emails that use the old tag stop filling it in. Check your status emails and the application email after you rename a field. The CSV export heading also changes, and the column moves to the end of your saved export columns.
Warning. Delete removes the field from every record and form. If you delete a field by mistake, contact support at support@enrola.co.uk straight away.
Add your own panel
Team Owners can group fields in a panel of their own.
- In Settings → Form fields, select Add.
- Enter a Label, which is the panel's title.
- Choose the Section: Opportunities, Applications, Employers or Contacts.
- Select Save.
- Select the new panel in the list and add fields to it, as above.
Your panel shows Change name / section and Delete buttons in the list.
Note. A new panel starts hidden on everyone's records. Each person shows it with Edit page layout and Edit panels. See Show, hide and reorder panels on a record.
Deleting a panel also takes its fields off records.
Good to know
- The page describes itself as covering learners, but Learner records don't have panels you can add fields to. The tabs are Opportunities, Applications, Employers and Contacts.
- You can't rename enrola's built-in fields yet. See Rename form field labels (coming soon).
