How do applicants apply?
Applicants don't need an enrola account. They find your Opportunity, fill in your application form and submit it. This article shows what they see, so you can help them and check your form.

Where applicants start
Applicants reach the form from:
- Apply now on your enrola job board. See Your enrola job board.
- Your own website, through the Website iFrame. See Add your Opportunities to your own website (Website iFrame).
- The job boards enrola posts your Opportunities to.
Each job board gets its own link to the form, so enrola can record where the applicant came from. It shows in the Referring Job Board column of the Applications list.
If an Opportunity has its own external apply link, applicants go there instead of to enrola's form.
The application form
The form comes from the Opportunity type. Admins build it in Settings → Application forms, choosing the questions, which are required, and where pages break. See Build application forms: questions, pages and layout.
The top of the form shows the Opportunity's title, the Employer (unless it is hidden), the start date and the closing date ("Apply by"). The page uses your organisation's logo and colours.
Forms in pages
If the form has page breaks, applicants see one page at a time with "Step 2 of 4" and a progress bar.
- Next checks the page and shows any problems beside the fields before moving on.
- Back returns to the previous page without losing answers.
- Submit application is on the last page.
If the applicant's browser has JavaScript turned off, the form shows as one long page.
Find Address
On the address questions, applicants type their Postcode and House No, then select Find Address. enrola fills in Address, District, Town/ City, County and Country.
| What happens | What the applicant sees |
|---|---|
| The address is found | The address boxes fill in. |
| Only the postcode is known, for example a new building | The town, county and any other parts it knows fill in, with "We couldn't find the full address. Please check it and fill in the rest." |
| The postcode isn't found | "No addresses could be found for this postcode." The applicant types the address. |
| Postcode or house number is missing | "Please Enter Postcode and House No." |
The thank-you page
After submitting, applicants see:
Application submitted. Thanks for submitting your application. We've received your application for Opportunity and will contact you soon about the next stage.
The thank-you page has its own web address, so Google Tag Manager can count completed applications. See Track applications with Google Tag Manager.
On your enrola job board, the Opportunity then shows "You have applied" instead of Apply now for the rest of that visit.
What happens next
- The applicant gets a confirmation email, from the Opportunity type's new-application email. See Set up Opportunity types and their new-application emails.
- The Application appears in Applications → Live, with the Opportunity's automatic Supervisor if it has one.
- If New Application is ticked in Settings → Notifications, the Supervisor gets an email. See Choose which notification emails enrola sends.
- If your organisation is connected, enrola looks the applicant up in the Learning Records Service (LRS) and BKSB. See What do the coloured LRS labels mean?
When applications are closed
If the Opportunity is Closed, Filled or Archived, the link shows "Applications for this Opportunity are now closed." instead of the form.
Good to know
- To see the form as applicants do, select Apply at the top of the Opportunity record.
Warning. Submitting the form yourself creates a real Application and sends the confirmation email. If you test it, delete the test Application afterwards.
