Coming soon: rename form field labels
Coming soon. This feature is planned and not yet in enrola. What you see when it arrives may differ from this description. We will update this article when it is released.
Today you can rename the fields your organisation added, but not enrola's built-in ones. This planned change lets you give built-in fields your own wording, for example "Ethnicity" instead of "Ethnic origin".
What will change
- In Settings → Form fields, on a panel's Edit form layout page, each built-in field will have a Rename button.
- Rename will open a small window with the label, the field's built-in name for reference, and Save.
- A renamed field will show your wording, with its built-in name in grey below it, so you can always tell which field it is.
- A Use built-in name button will put the original wording back.
- The page will explain that renaming changes the wording people see, not the answers already saved.
A rename will apply to your whole organisation.
What stays the same
- The answers already saved in the field.
- What the field means and does. Renaming changes the words only, not the field's type, its choices, whether it is required, or what enrola sends to services such as the Learning Records Service or Find an apprenticeship.
- Built-in merge tags in your email templates, such as
[@application_first_name@]. - How imports match your columns, and how enrola's API names fields.
- Your own fields, which you already rename with Edit.
What you might need to do
Nothing until the feature arrives. When it does:
- Pick the built-in fields you'd like to reword.
- Labels will be plain text, with no formatting.
- Learner panels, job board panels and the labels inside grouped fields, such as address lines, are not part of this change.
