Track applications with Google Tag Manager
Google Tag Manager (GTM) lets your marketing team add analytics and advertising tags without changing a website's code. enrola can load your organisation's GTM container on its public pages, and tells it each time someone finishes an application. The enrola team adds the container for you.
Ask for your container to be added
- In Google Tag Manager, find your container ID. It starts with
GTM-. - Send it to the enrola team at support@enrola.co.uk, saying which organisation it's for.
The enrola team adds it to your organisation. You don't need to change anything in enrola yourself.
Where it loads
Your container loads on the public pages at your organisation's enrola address:
- your enrola job board and its vacancy pages;
- your application forms;
- the thank-you page applicants see after they apply.
It doesn't load in the part of enrola your staff sign in to.
The thank-you page event
When an applicant submits an application, enrola shows a thank-you page with its own web address, ending /thank-you. That page sends one event to your container:
| Item | What it holds |
|---|---|
event |
application_submitted |
opportunityId |
The Opportunity's number in enrola |
opportunityTitle |
The Opportunity's title |
opportunityType |
Its Opportunity type, for example Apprenticeship |
jobBoard |
The job board the applicant came from |
The event holds nothing about the applicant: no name, email address or other personal details.
It is sent once for each application. If the applicant reloads the thank-you page, or comes back to it later, the event isn't sent again.
Count completed applications
In Google Tag Manager, set up a trigger that fires on the custom event application_submitted. You can also trigger on the thank-you page's address. Attach the tags you want, such as your analytics or an advertising conversion, and publish your container.
To check it works, submit a test application and confirm the event arrives once.
If you use the Website iFrame
When your job board sits in a frame on your website, the application form and thank-you page run inside the frame, on enrola's pages. Tags on your own web page can't see them. The container enrola loads inside the frame can, so set your trigger up in the container you send to the enrola team.
Compare sources in enrola too
Each Application records the job board the applicant came from. You can filter the Applications list by Job board to compare sources without any analytics set-up. See The job boards enrola posts to.
