Why did a post fail? Reading the posting log

A post can stop at two points: enrola's own checks before it sends anything, or the job board's checks after. This article explains both and how to put them right.

Problems enrola finds before posting

When you tick a job board in Posting Control, enrola checks the Opportunity against that board's rules. Each problem is listed under the board, with the field it's about. For example:

Employer name: Please select an employer from the "Employer name" field in the NAS panel

The board's Post button stays grey until the list is empty. If you select Post to selected while a board still has problems, enrola shows "Validation failed for job board(s)" with the board's name, and posts nothing.

To fix them:

  1. Read each line under the board. The fields at fault are highlighted on the page.
  2. Correct each field. The field name before the colon tells you which one.
  3. Check that the list under the board is empty, then post.

Some problems are about how a board's sectors or locations match yours. These lines have an Integration sectors or Integration locations link, which shows the board's own list. The enrola team keeps that matching up to date, so contact support at support@enrola.co.uk if a sector you need is missing.

Problems the job board reports

If the board refuses the post, the log row shows Failed or Error, and the Reason column explains why in plain words.

Select Details to open Why the post failed. It lists each problem with the name of the field on the Opportunity.

What the reasons mean

Reason What to do
NAS didn't accept this vacancy. Change the following and post it again. Change each field listed in Details, then post again.
NAS didn't accept your organisation's NAS API key. Check the key in Settings › Integrations, then post the vacancy again. A Team Owner should check the Recruitment API key. See Connect enrola to Find an apprenticeship.
(board) had a problem on its side and couldn't take the opportunity. Post it again later; if it keeps failing, contact enrola support. Nothing is wrong with your Opportunity. Wait, then post again.
(board) didn't accept this opportunity. Read the board's reasons in Details, change the Opportunity and post again.
enrola couldn't send this opportunity to (board). If it keeps happening, contact enrola support. Try again. If it happens again, contact support.

"NAS" in these messages means Find an apprenticeship (shown as NAS in enrola).

Post again

When you have changed the fields, select Post beside the board in Posting Control. Each attempt adds a new row to the log, so you can see the earlier failure and the new result together.

While the latest post to a board has failed, the Opportunity's status in the Opportunities list is Error.

Good to know

  • Training provider's UKPRN in a Find an apprenticeship reason means your UK Provider Reference Number (UKPRN). An Admin sets it in Settings → Organisation details.
  • Employer name in a Find an apprenticeship reason means the employer chosen in the NAS panel. If it's missing from the list, use Refresh from NAS. See Refresh standards and courses from NAS.
  • A Success from Find an apprenticeship means it accepted the vacancy, not that the advert is live. Find an apprenticeship reviews adverts before it publishes them.
  • Details shows at most ten problems. Fix those and post again to see any more.
